About Lynn
Lynn owns and operates Beverly Community Counseling. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. She attended Boston College for her Masters of Social Work degree as well as degree in Pastoral Care. Lynn has a specialty in families of divorce. She taught the Massachusetts mandatory course for parents divorcing for 5 years that provided her with hundreds of co-parenting situations and stories from which she has compiled a wealth of knowledge that helps assist families experiencing divorce. Lynn can provide instruction on this subject and resources such as handouts and books. Lynn also has a specialty in people who self-injure. She began working with this population in the 1990’s and hosted chat rooms to allow for monitored peer support groups. Lynn has developed an intensive course for clinicians to understand the mind of the person who self-injures and strategies to be most helpful to this population. This course is 2-3 hours and can be presented to a group as small as a staff meeting or as large as a lecture hall. This course was originally developed in a 6 hour format for Boston College’s continuing education program. Lynn has experience working with people diagnosed with Autism spectrum disorder teaching them social skills (eye contact, reciprocal conversation, waiting your turn, taking the other person’s perspective etc). In addition, she works with them on behavioral symptoms that cause them distress such as rigid thinking, stimming, transitions, reality testing and maintaining emotional regulation. Lynn works with children from age 3 and adults until their senior years. Lynn has an eclectic style that includes CBT, DBT, Expressive Arts, Play Therapy, Interpersonal therapy and Mentalization based therapy. Lynn can tailor her approach to provide treatment for people who want a Christian viewpoint. Her clients have diagnoses that include generalized anxiety disorder, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, PTSD, mood disorders, sensory processing disorder, self injury, autism spectrum disorder and borderline personality disorder. Lynn is an active community supporter donating to Harborlight Community Partners, Gina’s Giving Back, Gordon College and various religious organizations.
